An old way

I know this is nerdy but I have to share this clasp with you. It's called a tube and tongue catch and it is practically extinct - I'd never seen one until yesterday. Part pin and barrel catch, part box clasp - well, I just love it. I wish jewelers would use these types of vintage jewelry findings today.

I have never ever seen a clasp like this either. I wish they would use something like this as well. I have lost a few pieces over the years from something falling off because the clasp did not hold, a favorite bracelet was lost in this manner. This clasp looks like it would hold up :)

I know this post is kind of old, but I saw one of these last night. A friend had an antique necklace with a mourning locket from her grandmother with one of these clasps. I was gushing over the clasp rather than the locket!
