My little bird

Severen has lots of nicknames but I think "little bird" is the best one. Especially since these past couple days he has decided to become best friends with the bird decals next to his changing table. He spent 30 minutes staring at them this morning, which I'm pretty sure is equivalent to 4 hours in adult time. He flaps his arms, pumps his little legs like pistons, and purses his lips. I think he is trying to invite Mr. Bird to his one-month birthday party, which is coming up on January 30th (also my birthday, as it happens!) My mother-in-law thinks "he is having his first wilderness experience." Whatever is happening in his little head, it is really fun to watch him so fixated.

P.S. I bought the decals on Etsy at this shop. Severen also loves this high-contrast book.
P.P.S. Severen has to get his little frenulum clipped today, the connective tissue under the tongue - turns out he is a bit "tongue tied" (yes, it is a real thing). I wish I could have mine cut instead of him. Please wish us a fast, perfect procedure!

that's so cute! good luck with the procedure...strange thing is when I was little I had a wire hanger in my mouth--don't ask--at a department store with my family and somehow yanked it out of my mouth. this unintentionally cut my frenulum in two pieces. the mouth is a wonderful healing device, he will be back to normal in no time!

Little kicking legs! Wheee so cute! That action shot is truly precious. I love that he is having such a ball with the birds — and what validation for your nursery-décor decisions! Best of luck with the frenulum. (Which of course I had to look up in the dictionary: "modern Latin, diminutive of Latin frenum ‘bridle.’" Huh!) xoxoxoxoxo

Oh, this is when you learn what is means to have your heart ache! We worry so over our children, but this sounds very controlled and professional so it should be over in an instant. But good luck all the same.
I think it is awesome that your wall decor idea proves what great intuition you have about nurturing the intelligence.... this is one lucky lad!

Sweet, sweet pictures! I love bird nicknames. :) I bet the procedure and healing will go swimmingly. I was told the other day by a doctor (well, it was a vet actually but I'm sure it still applies) that the mouth is amazing because it heals so fast - much faster than anywhere else on the body.

My mom's birthday is the 30th too! Good day :)

I love the nickname "Little Bird" -- it's so very sweet. My son was tongue-tied too. They noticed it within a few hours of him being born and arranged for it to be taken care of before we even left the hospital -- fortunately they took him out of the room when they did it. As soon as he's back in your arms, I'm sure he'll forget all about it.

You ladies are so great - I truly appreciate your friendship and support. Thank you for your comments and good wishes today. The procedure went well and Severen spent some time this afternoon telling Mr. Bird all about it :)

Aww, I know how hard it is to watch them go through pain, but he'll heal quickly and he'll never remember going through this. What an adorable little boy!

Oh, poor little bird! Was he having trouble sucking? That's such a shame. I wish him a speedy recovery! xoxo

My first son was tongue-tied too! I never knew it was an actual thing either :) He had trouble nursing so it needed to be fixed. So glad little bird is recovering nicely :) That is so sweet how he loves those decals. Good job mom!
