Inspired by my romantic obsession with archaeology, this is the update I am working on right now. I think this is my favorite update ever. The pieces are just so much fun. I'll post info and links here as I go . . .

P.S. I studied Classics in college and got to help excavate a Roman temple in Israel as part of my archaeology field work (er, almost fifteen years ago). Here are a couple pics of yours truly. Excavations at the site are ongoing! You can check out the reconstructions here.

Look at you! And look at that update...Love the necklace.
Isn't it sad that we're getting older. It was, gosh 13 years ago I was in Pompeii. Eek. I LOVE this group of items, especially that necklace.
Eeee! Look at that Athena! Those ship coins are pretty special too. This is a great start to my Wednesday. :) xoxoxo
BEST update! You're amazing, Duff! *virtual high five*
Duff, the Minerva brooch is fascinating. Was this a one of a kind piece? Do you know much about it? It's so cool!
Hi Marcia - that brooch IS amazing, isn't it? Minerva/Athena jewelry appears to have been popular mostly in the late 1800s . . . you can see an example of a fine enamel piece (diamonds, etc.) here: http://www.adin.be/en/2ndpage.asp?dtn=07207-0519&titel=Victorian%20enameled%20brooch,%20goddess%20Minerva and here: http://www.skinnerinc.com/asp/fullCataloguese.asp?salelot=2200+++++308+&refno=++500616. Thank you for asking about it!
Oops . . . I guess you will have to copy and paste those urls . . . but it is worth it! The pieces are spectacular.
Thanks, they are both so cool! I think I like your's best though. It has so much character!
