We made some big changes to our yard and house last month. Here is the before/after! The original garden was planted by a retired couple who, according to our neighbors, spent hours outside everyday tending to it. We knew that wasn't possible for us so we adopted this motto: more grass, less garden. All of the plants/shrubs are babies right now but they will be fuller next year. We also hope to plant two trees and flowers in the spring. For now though, everything is pretty pared down. And don't you love the brick on the first storey? Soren spent hours scrubbing away the white paint and working to expose the original brick. His efforts were the talk of the neighborhood!

aw, she's absolutely charming. what a lovely home.
i agree with everyeskimo...absolutely charming and i love the brick!
Check out Old House Gardens! It's based in A2, and I worked there for a while. Awesome bulbs, and a relationship worth cultivating - great service, expertise, and high quality products. The time to order and plant for spring is now!

(sorry this seems so much like an ad...I just love OHG's bulbs!)
It looks so much better now! Less like a jungle, more like a home. Especially with that nice brick!
pretty house.
Gorgeous. Did you line the sidewalk in brick yourselves? The brick on the house looks stellar. What a peaceful haven you have now.
Spiffing if I do say so myself!
I love it! You will absolutely appreciate the "more lawn" motto when the little one comes along. Fun and super safe crawling area!
