Indestructible!

Severen and I love this indestructible book, which was a thoughtful gift from a friend. It is totally baby-proof, washable, beautiful, and fun. We only have one right now, but I've been browsing the full selection and I think I'll get a couple more for us to enjoy.

What were your favorite books as a kid? Parents: What are your child's favorite reads now? These were some of my favorites when I was little (images linked):

Now you've opened a Pandora's box, for sure!! The Nile and the Faversham books are very telling for you! My oldest loved the Richard Scarry series, particularly the ones with simple, everyday objects -- he loved identifying things (just wait til Severen starts saying,"whaz dis?"). Also, The Big Orange Splot by Daniel Pinkwater. Clown of God, Tomie dePaola around the holidays. Mike Mulligan and his steam shovel by Virginia Lee Burton and I'll stop with Harry the Dirty Dog by Gene Zion..... And lucky us as mothers to be able to spend hours with these books, too!! Delightful!!

me and my boyfriend were talking about our favourite books a few days ago... he said he remembered when he started to understand written words, and how awesome he felt. i tried to remember this but couldn't, and then realised that this was probably because i started reading at the age of four, so it seems like i've been reading words all of my life. most of my favourite books were in dutch, but we had one book in english about a boy who imagined a whole landscape with blankets and pillows in his parents' bed. i think it was called maxi's bed magicians, and i loved going through it, even though i didn't understand the text yet!

As a young lass, I would repeatedly check out this book called "The Brownie" from my library. While I did end up reading the story once or twice, it was more importantly a small, hardback book with a blue cover that allowed me to recreate the opening number from "Beauty and the Beast" perfectly. I believe I was responsible for every date stamp the humble book achieved.

I'm a Giving Tree girl from way back. I also loved the Beatrix Potter books when I was very young. Young teen would have to be Bridge to Terabithia!

Caps for Sale: what a classic! I also loved de Paola's Strega Nona series — especially Dumb Anthony making the town overflow with spaghetti! xoxo
