I've decided that I've gotta get myself into early plastics. I know, I know it sounds like a New Year's resolution gone bad but I'm serious. I've really disliked 1920s-1930s plastic jewelry (i.e. celluloid, bakelite, etc.) until just recently. I mean after all, it is just plastic. But I've been forcing myself to think about it, look at it, study it etc. and now I'm beginning to find it quite irresistible. Like this necklace, for example! I think you will be seeing some of it in the shop very soon.
Oh! And the title of this post comes from the second track of this mighty good mix (download it!) from the one and only Miss Moss. I've been listening to it quite a bit lately!

you are beautiful!
look at you all summery! I actually really love old plastics, so I'm really happy you're liking them more now so I can stalk these items in your shop later on :)
cooooooool shoes. coooool dress.
and i think the necklace is real fantastic with them both, i am sure it will get some compliments!
I'm all up for this new move. I am a fan of early plastics and would love them in the shop!
This is so funny, as I have just gotten into bakelite and I was shopping around from some on etsy and I thought, "Geez, it's odd that Duff doesn't have any in her shop!" We must be in synch. Looking forward to it -- and, on another note, I've been enjoying your outfit posts too!
Thank you ladies! I'm very excited that you are on board with my plastic resolution for the shop!
Great outfit! And the necklace is really interesting. Love the ring too.
When I saw the pictures I thought the pieces looked different from your usual style (based on what you have in the shop) but congrats on pushing your style limit-- the leaf necklace is amazing. I used to hate bracelets but have found myself buying chunky bakelite & lucite bangles lately.
That necklace is pretty incredible! Glad to see you're enjoying the sandals :)
I LOVE bakelite. The pins are especially handsome. I also love the original celluloid cracker jack prizes. You need to come this way and go to Rose Bowl with me!
I bought a lovely celluloid pin (from an antique store) and it snapped. Any fix-it tips for vintage celluloid?
Hey Duff! I'm definitely on board with your resolution to get into early plastics! Just yesterday I came across two pieces that I passed up because they were scratched and dirty with no hope of rejuvenating. They were really pretty designs, too. I realize that this is what has kept me away from early plastics (with the exception of Bakelite & celluloid, which I love). The softer plastics often have damage which is a real turn-off if one is picky about condition - and I know you are, too. These pieces were "everyday jewelry" and were worn to death in many cases. The necklace you show here is a stunner! It is rare to find such a great piece in this excellent condition. I hope you continue to find some great early plastic pieces to share!
Holy cute! The dress, the necklace & all. I just bought an early plastics brooch last week. I haven't listed it for the same reason...I will send you a pic!It is very much like your necklace.
Jesus...that's necklace hurts my eyes it's so beautiful.
