Cool it down

Well, it was 83 degrees in the Bay Area yesterday and yours truly was not prepared for the heat wave. I wished for icy drinks all day but, alas, Mr. Jean Jean and I have a tiny dorm-size fridge here in our temporary digs and the freezer is barely big enough to hold a bag of peas - let alone a tray of ice cubes. It made me wish for a second that this 1940s brooch was real! It is made of lucite and shaped like an ice cube and tongs, with the rotating cube etched with a cursive "M." Pretty cool (ha ha ha haaaa) and headed to the shop today.

That is SO neat! (I almost typed "cool"--hah!) Unlike Lauren, I am not jealous of your 83 degrees. However, I am concerned about your lack of ice cubes. They are a necessity! (Iced coffee. Cocktails.)

You know I love this pin. So interesting. Yesterday was 62 here and I was already dying of heat stroke (not dramatic or anything) I am not looking forward to summer..its sure to be in the 100's this year and I have no beach in sight..boo. maybe a bag of ice ina a cooler is in order ;)

Oh gosh, wait for 105. LOL This gal doesn't even have a/c and our ice maker is broken so I hear you!

Love your pin, it reminds me of the stories my grandma used to tell me about getting chips of ice from the ice man who came through her neighborhood in Chicago back in the '20s and '30s. I have a tiny vintage charm that resembles your pin but haven't seen a brooch like this before!

I just did the maths to work out the C degrees. We wouldn't even break a sweat in Sydney over that lol. You should definately come and experience a Sydney summer, it's fabulous - we have temps as high as 40C (105F) for days on end, perfect for the beach. And boy do we have good beaches :)

That pin is fab though. Talk about a stylish accessory!
